what if i fail?
traintrack derail
wind's blowin, but i got no sail.
i spread my wings, and my feathers flail
i spin circles chasin my own tail
strain my ears to hear my own wail
what if i fall
shatter to shards when i hit the wall
i'm standin at zero feet tall
back's broken from pullin my haul
don't understand when it's my name they call
what if i break
heart's been split by Richter ten quake
breathin deep to stop the body shake
sanity's lost for sanity's sake
what if i die?
motor sputters when i'm tryin to fly
sunset blindin my third eye
tears run out when i attempt to cry
stings of truth on my last sigh
and then i wonder
what if
i never even get the chance?
to trip over my own feet in this absurd dance?
to laugh while around my ankles fall my pants?
to catch with my heart life's piercing lance?
to be stilled by music in tantalizing trance?
it's a voice
it's tasty and moist
and it's all a choice.
